Crohn's Disease

From a conventional medical standpoint Crohn's disease is the result of an abnormal immune system response, during which your body mistakes certain bacteria and other materials in the intestine for foreign or invading substances.

It then sends white blood cells into the intestines, where they create inflammation. Normally, this would cause a temporary inflammation that would resolve itself. But with Crohn's disease, researchers believe that once your immune system is "turned on", it doesn't know how to "properly turn off". As a result, chronic inflammation damages the intestine and causes the symptoms of Crohn's disease.

From a holistic point of view, we generally find some bacteria, parasite or other toxicity that is creating the immune response and try to assist the body to rid itself of the toxin and heal.

 Symptoms
  • Symptoms range from mild to severe and include:
  • Abdominal pain and tenderness
  • Feeling of a filled abdomen
  • Tiredness
  • Diarrhea, which can be mixed with blood, mucus or pus in severe cases
  • Constipation
  • Nausea
  • Weight loss
  • Fever
  • Rectal bleeding
  • Inflammation of the joints, eyes, and mouth
  • Children with Crohn’s disease may report retarded growth or delayed sexual development.

 Root causes

The true causes of Crohn's disease are not completely understood from a traditional medical model. What is medically known is that if you or a close relative have the disease, your family members may be at an increased chance of Crohn's.

Researchers believe that a combination of hereditary, genetic, and/or environmental factors may contribute to the development of Crohn's disease.

Diet and stress may aggravate Crohn's disease, but they do not cause the disease on their own.

In bioenergetic testing we generally find parasites, heavy metal toxins, chemical toxins etc. and thereby detox and help to balance the immune system and alleviate inflammation.
