 Home Remedies

For ear pain associated with a middle ear infection without an eardrum perforation, warm (not hot) oil (olive, vegetable) dripped gently into the ear canal and held in place by a cotton ball may help ease ear pain. Warm oil is less likely to be helpful for swimmer’s ear. A warm or cold compress may help ear pain.
Some people find alternating between a warm and cold compress helpful.

Naturopathic eardrops have been tried to control ear pain and the primary ear infection with limited success. Naturopathic eardrops have not been approved by the FDA Tea tree oil eardrops are widely used but have the same limitations discussed concerning naturopathic eardrops.

An oil containing ginger may be applied to the pinna. Advocates of this preparation urge avoid pouring ginger oil into the ear canal. Anecdotal testimonies exist praising the use of garlic oil poured into the ear canal as an effective therapy for outer and middle ear infections.

Parents of young children with middle ear infections (otitis media) have long since noted the reluctance to put pressure on the side of the infected ear. Sleeping with the painful side “up” may be of help in the management of ear pain.

The following tips may reduce the risk of developing ear infections:

  • Prevent common colds and other illnesses. Teach your children to wash their hands frequently and thoroughly and to not share eating and drinking utensils. Teach your children to cough or sneeze into their elbow. If possible, limit the time your child spends in group child care.
  • A child care setting with fewer children may help. Try to keep your child home from child care or school when ill.
  • Avoid secondhand smoke. Make sure that no one smokes in your home. Away from home, stay in smoke-free environments.
  • Breast-feed your baby. If possible, breast-feed your baby for at least six months. Breast milk contains antibodies that may offer protection from ear infections.
  • If you bottle-feed, hold your baby in an upright position. Avoid propping a bottle in your baby's mouth
  • while he or she is lying down. Don't put bottles in the crib with your baby.

 Acupuncture

This pressure point is located directly in front of where your earlobe begins. Acupressure on this point is used to relieve pressure that builds up around your jaw and in your ears. This could make it effective in treating tinnitus, ear infections, earache, tension headache, and migraine.

This is yet another important acupressure point for ear aches treatment that is popularly used in ancient Chinese treatment. This point is located directly below the ear gate point, in front of the opening of the ear. It is situated in a depression that deepens when the mouth is opened. Stimulating this pressure point on both sides of the face using the fingers for 3 to 5 minutes helps in relieving pressure inside the ear, earache, jaw pain, hearing problems, toothache and headache.

This is yet another important point widely used in ear acupuncture and acupressure. But it is best not to stimulate his point after the third month of pregnancy. This point is located halfway between the inside of the ankle bone and Achilles’ tendon, at the backside of the ankle. Putting optimum pressure on this point in both feet simultaneously help in relieving earache, ringing in ear and pain related to wisdom tooth. K-3, K-6.

Reflexology

The reflexes for the Eustachian tubes extend from the inner side of the big toe along the base of the second and third toes to the fourth toe. Reflexes for chronic ear conditions are found on the 'shelf' at the base of these two toes – the same section as the Eustachian tubes.

The ear apex, located on the cartilage at the place where your ear comes to its highest point, is an auricular pressure point popular in treatments for earache, migraine, and tension headache.

Bio-Energetic Balancing Remedies Suggestions
Run an ear scan and then add additional remedies using the Search Criteria.  Set the type to Description and type a symptom in the Search bar (like pain, inflammation, infection etc.)  scan 3-5 times for each symptom. Also, set the type to Item and add the homeopathic remedies listed in this article.  Imprint the Red Laser and scan over ear for 2-5 minutes and repeat this at least 4 times daily.  Also, imprint a remedy like EQ Ototone or EQ Otoflam HP and take at least 4 times a day.  EQ Mulleincom would be beneficial to imprint as well.
