Eye Problems - Glaucoma

A condition where the eye’s optic nerve, which provides information to the brain, is damaged with or without raised intraocular pressure. This will cause gradual vision loss.

 Symptoms

People want to know what the early warning symptoms of glaucoma are. The problem is that for some types of glaucoma, there aren’t any early warning symptoms, and changes to vision can happen gradually, so the symptoms are easy to miss.

Many people with open-angle glaucoma don’t have any noticeable symptoms, it’s very important to have routine eye exams to detect this disease in its earlier stages. Glaucoma damage is irreversible, so you need early detection and treatment to prevent blindness.

Closed-angle glaucoma has more severe symptoms that tend to come on suddenly.

With any type, you may experience:

  • Eye pain or pressure.
  • Headaches.
  • Rainbow-colored halos around lights.
  • Low vision, blurred vision, narrowed vision (tunnel vision) or blind spots.
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Red eyes

 Root Causes

Glaucoma can occur without any cause, but many factors can affect it. The most important of these factors is intraocular eye pressure. Your eyes produce a fluid called aqueous humor that nourishes them. This liquid flows through your pupil to the front of your eye. In a healthy eye, the fluid leaves through the drainage canals located between your iris and cornea.

With glaucoma, the resistance increases in your drainage canals. The fluid has nowhere to go, so it builds up in your eye. This excess fluid puts pressure on your eye. Eventually, this elevated eye pressure can damage your optic nerve and lead to glaucoma.

  • Family history of Glaucoma
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Long term use of corticosteroids
  • Previous eye surgery or injury

 Nutritional Support Items

VERY IMPORTANT:

  • Choline and inositol (NS Choline & Inositol), or lecithin: Choline and inositol are important B vitamins for the eyes and brain. Lecithin is a good source of choline and inositol. For choline and inositol, take 1,000–2,000 mg daily. For lecithin, take as directed on label.
  •  Essential fatty acids (NS Omega Complete 2 caps 2 times daily): Protects and aids repair of new tissues and cells. Take as directed on label. Take with meals.
  • Glutathione (NS Eye Therapy): A powerful antioxidant that protects the lens and maintains the molecular integrity of the lens fiber membranes. Take 500 mg twice daily, on an empty stomach. Take with 50 mg vitamin B6 and 100 mg vitamin C for better absorption.
  •  Vitamin A, plus carotenoid complex with lutein and zeaxanthin (NS Eye Therapy): Needed for good eyesight. Essential in formation of visual purple, the substance necessary for night vision. For vitamin A, take up to 3,000 mcg (10,000 IU) daily. If you are pregnant, do not exceed 3,000 mcg (10,000 IU) daily. For carotenoid complex with lutein and zeaxanthin take as directed on label.
  • Vitamin B complex, plus extra vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) (EQ B Complex, AI B Complex):  B vitamins work best when taken together. Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) is an antistress vitamin needed for the adrenal glands, and an essential constituent of coenzyme A, needed for many vital metabolic processes. For vitamin B complex, use a sublingual form or injections (under a doctor’s supervision). Whenever stress is a factor, B complex injections are a good idea. Take 100 mg of each major B vitamin (thiamine and riboflavin) 3 times daily. Amounts of individual vitamins in a complex will vary. Do not exceed 35 mg niacin, 100 mg vitamin B6, and 1,000 mcg folate daily. For vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), take 100 mg 3 times daily.
  •  Vitamin C ( NS Liposomal Vitamin C): Reduces intraocular pressure. Take up to 2,000 mg daily, in divided doses. Under a doctor’s supervision, you may go higher.
  •  Vitamin E (EQ Initial E): Helpful in removing particles from the lens of the eye. Has antioxidant properties to protect the lens and other eye tissues. Use d-alpha tocopherol form. Take 90 mg (200 IU) daily.
  • Rutin (NS Eye Therapy):  Blood vessel health and inflammation

HELPFUL:

  •  Alpha-lipoic acid (NS Alpha Lipoic Acid): An important antioxidant. Improves visual functions. Take 150 mg daily.
  • Magnesium (NS Magnesium Complex): Dilates blood vessels, enhancing flow to the eyes. Take up to 350 mg daily.
  •  Multivitamin and mineral complex (NS Liquid Life, NS Colloidal Minerals Plus), with selenium: All nutrients are needed to aid in healing and to reduce intraocular pressure. Selenium is a potent antioxidant that works with vitamin E. For multivitamin and mineral complex, take as directed on label. For selenium, take 200 mcg daily.
  • Zinc (EQ Zinc): Essential in activating vitamin A from the liver. Very beneficial in glaucoma therapy. Use zinc sulfate form. Take up to 40 mg daily.

Research conducted showed that EPA (eicosapentaenoic) and DHA (docosahexaenoic) fatty acids and omega-3 fatty acids were lowered in glaucoma patients. Wild-caught salmon is one of the best sources of EPA and DHA. Along with water fish such as tuna, sardines and herring that contain acids that improve ocular blood flow which thus decreases the risk of glaucoma.

 Home Remedies

Prepare equal amounts of coriander seeds and fennel seeds, add brown sugar loaf to the mixture and grind it to create a powder. Use 10 gram of the powder with plain water on a daily basis to get quick relief from the condition. This is also one of the most useful and safe home remedies for glaucoma.

Prepare at least 300 ml of extract carrot juice and 200 ml of spinach juice and combine them together. Consume the mix of veggie juice on a regular basis throughout the day.

Prepare 20 grams of onion extract juice and add this to 4 mg of camphor powder and an equal quantity of honey. Use this paste to apply directly onto your eyelids on a regular basis in the night to get quick relief from building eye pressure.

In the contrary to Prunus Spinosa, the effect of natural Homeopathic medicine Cedron would be best for applying onto the left eye of those suffering from glaucoma. Cedron is a great home remedy for violent, severe pain inside the patient’s eye, particularly the left eye. The start of the pain might show a certain cycle of its happening. This pain might show a radiation to your nose.

Prunus Spinosa is a great natural home remedy that can help to relieve and cure sudden right eye pain in people suffering from Glaucoma. Prunus Spinosa can work majorly for reducing and eliminating the pain in right eyes. Eye pain is so violent and acute that it could result even in a bursting sensation inside
patients’ eyeballs.

Which part of feet is connected to eye?
These reflexes are on both feet on the cushions of the second and third toes and may extend slightly down the toes. Reflexes for chronic eye conditions are on the 'shelf' at the base of these two toes.
