Condition: Gout

Gout is a painful form of arthritis. When your body has extra uric acid, sharp crystals can form in your joints (usually your big toe). Flare-ups of symptoms like pain and swelling come and go in periods called gout attacks. Gout most commonly affects the big toe, but it can occur in any joint. Other commonly affected joints include the ankles, knees, elbows, wrists and fingers. The pain is likely to be most severe within the first 4 to 12 hours after it begins. There is generally lingering discomfort.  After the most severe pain subsides, some joint discomfort may last from a few days to a few weeks. If the cause is not corrected later attacks are likely to last longer and affect more joints. This condition generally affects males between 30 and 50 years of age.

Symptoms
Intense joint pain, inflammation and redness. The affected joint or joints become swollen, tender, warm and red. There will be a limited range of motion.

Root Causes
  • Digestive (including candida, parasites or other toxins) and dietary issues.
  • This condition has been linked to excess consumption of meat (particularly red meat), seafood and alcohol but other foods can be a trigger as well.
  • Obesity, certain conditions like heart disease, kidney disease, liver & gallbladder disease, certain medications and genetics are considered a factor in this disorder as well.

Nutritional Support Items

VERY IMPORTANT:

  • Essential fatty acids (NS Omega Complete 1-2 caps daily): Needed to repair tissues, aid in healing, and restore proper fatty acid balance. An excess of saturated fats is often behind this disorder. Take as directed on label. Take with meals.
  • Vitamin B complex, plus extra vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), and folic acid (EQ B Complex or AI B Complex): Vitamin B complex is needed for proper digestion and all bodily enzyme systems. Vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid) is an antistress vitamin. Folic acid, is an important aid in nucleoprotein metabolism. For vitamin B complex, take 100 mg of each major B vitamin (thiamine and riboflavin) twice daily. Amounts of individual vitamins in a complex will vary. Do not exceed 35 mg niacin, 100 mg vitamin B6, and 1,000 mcg folate daily. For vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), take 500 mg daily, in divided doses. For folic acid, take 400–800 mcg daily.
  • Vitamin C (NS Liposomal Vitamin C): Lowers serum uric acid levels. Take up to 2,000 mg daily, in divided doses.
  • Vitamin E (EQ Initial E):  Improves circulation.  Take 90 mg (200 IU) daily.
  • Black Cherry or Burdock (NS Black Cherry and NS Burdock):  Herbs that assists in helping to eliminate uric acid.  2 capsules 3 times daily.
  • Digestive Enzymes (NS Digestive Enzymes plus 2 caps with each meal) Aids in proper breakdown of foods and thereby reduces uric acid levels.
  • Bromelain and Quercetin (BL Inflam Redux2: Helps with inflammation and pain

IMPORTANT:

  • Amino acids (NS Amino Acid Complex 2 caps 2 times daily): Uric acid production increases if essential amino acids are lacking.  Take as directed on label.
  • Kelp, or alfalfa (NS Coral Calcium or NS Green Max 2 caps 2-3 times daily): Kelp and Alfalfa contains complete protein and vital minerals and other nutrients that help to reduce serum uric acid. For kelp, take 1,000–1,500 mg daily. For alfalfa, take 2,000 to 3,000 mg daily in tablet or capsule form.
  •  Potassium (EQ Potassium Chelate): Needed for proper mineral balance. Take 99 mg daily.
  • Pycnogenol, or grape seed extract (NS Grape Seed Extract 2 caps 2-3 times daily): Powerful antioxidants. For either, take as directed on label.
  • Superoxide dismutase (SOD) (NS Superoxide Dismutase 2 caps 2-3 times daily): An antioxidant and potent free radical destroyer. Take as directed on label, on an empty stomach (first thing in the morning is best). Take with a full glass of water.
  •  Zinc (EQ Zinc) : Important in protein metabolism and tissue repair.  Take up to 40 mg daily.

HELPFUL:

  • Calcium (NS Coral Calcium) and magnesium (NS Magnesium Complex): To reduce stress caused by this disorder. Works well during sleep. For calcium, take 1,500 mg daily. For magnesium, take up to 350 mg daily.
  • Glucosamine and chondroitin, plus methylsulfonyl methane (MSM) (NS Glucosamine Joint Formula): Glucosamine and chondroitin are important for joint tissue. Methylsulfonyl methane (MSM) has anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving properties. For both, take as directed on label.

Whole Food Sources and Spices
  • Colorful fruits and vegetables—such as oranges, bananas, peppers and broccoli—have plenty of nutrients, such as vitamin C or vitamin A.
  • Whole grain rice, pasta and bread are also recommended. Non-fat and low fat dairy products, like milk, cheese and yogurt should be chosen instead of high fat dairy products.
  • Chicken and certain fish, including salmon (no crustaceans) are good sources of protein when dealing with this disorder.
  • Fruits are still encouraged, but because of the naturally high fructose levels, they should be limited to one or two cups per day.
  • High purine vegetables still have lower purine content than most fruits and should be safe as part of a gout friendly diet.
  • It is also recommended, in general, to follow a well-balanced, low fat diet.

Beneficial Techniques and Modalities

 Home Remedies
  • Make a ginger compress or paste by boiling water with 1 tablespoon of grated fresh ginger root. Soak a washcloth in the mixture. When cool, apply the washcloth to the area where you’re experiencing pain at least once per day for 15 to 30 minutes. Skin irritation is possible, so it’s best to do a test on a small patch of skin first.
  • Mix juice from one squeezed half lemon into warm water. Combine with 2 teaspoons turmeric and 1 teaspoon apple cider vinegar. Adjust to taste. Drink two to three times per day.
  • Brew a cup by boiling water. Steep 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried nettle per cup of water. Drink up to 3 cups per day.
  • Applying cold or hot water to inflamed joints may also be effective.
  • Some people recommend a bath of Epsom salts to prevent gout attacks. Mix 1 to 2 cups in your bath.
  • Soak your entire body or only specific joints for symptom relief.
  • Drinking plenty of water is important to kidney function. Keeping the kidneys in good shape can also reduce uric acid crystal buildup and gout attacks.
  • To avoid worsening symptoms, relax and stay put while joints are inflamed. Avoid exercising, bearing heavy weights, and using joints excessively, which can worsen the pain and duration of a flare-up.
  • Lose weight if you are obese.

 Bio-Energetic Balancing Remedies Suggestions

Review and address digestive disorders found in the scanning.  Consider running a liver/gallbladder scan and addressing the issues noted.  Imprint and laser the liver area. For pain relief go to a blank hold tank and use the Search Criteria and set the Type to Description and in the search bar type symptoms like pain, inflammation, gout,  etc. and scan and add remedies 3-5 times for each symptom.  Also, use the Search Criteria and set the type to Item and add the above listed homeopathics.  Imprint the hold tank into a remedy and/or the laser.

It would be wise to put the individual on a drainer like Burdock or Black Cherry to aid in the removal of uric acid prior to lasering.
